How can we make use of the current situation and turn it into a positive development for the Amsterdam art field and artists? “I am a tool of gentrification” aims to function as a speculative proposition on using gentrification within the artistic community, which will open up during interviews and open discussions.

“I am a tool of gentrification. City Center” is the first episode of the series of an experimental documentary by Lyuba Matyunina. The main question Lyuba deals with is concern about the role of the artist in the gentrification process. How can we make use of the current situation and turn it into a positive development for the Amsterdam art field and artists? “I am a tool of gentrification” aims to function as a speculative proposition on using gentrification within the artistic community, which will open up during interviews and open discussions. It is more than a critical analysis of the situation: it is an attempt to find a solution, make a platform for discussion and solve situational propositions.
