Passage
Baba Yaga, Passage Through Darkness and Rebirth.
A tunnel was built that ended with a banya (portable sauna with open fire). Visitors walked naked through a dark tunnel, symbolically dying, and found themselves in the banya with Baba Yaga. She performed a ritualistic steam session. After that everyone walked back through the tunnel, now lit with red light, as a rebirth. Inspired by Slavic folklore and the old idea of “rebaking,” where a sick child was placed in a warm oven to be symbolically reborn as healthy and whole.
Baba Yaga is the ancient Slavic figure who stands at the border between the living and the dead, neither good nor evil, a force of transformation.
